The biggest obstacle to our prayers not being answered is unforgiveness

Unforgiveness destroys relationships

Matthew 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

  • God connects prayer with forgiveness

Why does God's Word speak so strongly about unforgiveness?

  1. Because it is totally opposite to the nature of Jesus Christ

1 John 4:8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

  • In Jesus Christ there are no resentments, bitterness or unforgiveness

Luke 23:34 Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” And they divided His garments and cast lots.

  1. Unforgiveness can send us to hell for all eternity

1 John 3:14-15 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death. 15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

Hates: Anger, detest, to have eyebrow to eyebrow (frown) to see with bad eyes

Matthew 18:23-35 Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24 And when he had begun to settle accounts, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. 25 But as he was not able to pay, his master commanded that he be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and that payment be made. 26 The servant therefore fell down before him, saying, ‘Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’ 27 Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt. 28 “But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii; and he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, ‘Pay me what you owe!’ 29 So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’ 30 And he would not, but went and threw him into prison till he should pay the debt. 31 So when his fellow servants saw what had been done, they were very grieved, and came and told their master all that had been done. 32 Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. 33 Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?’ 34 And his master was angry and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. 35 “So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.”

to. 18:24 many millions […] of silver Textually 10,000 talents. That amount was equivalent to approximately 70,000 denarii. Since the average wage of a worker was one denarius a day (see Mt 20: 2), a worker would have to work thousands of years to pay that debt, indicating that the debt was exorbitant, impossible to pay.

b. 18:28 100 silver coins Textually 100 denarii. This amount was roughly equivalent to a worker's three-month salary.

Ephesians 4:26-27 “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, 27 nor give place to the devil.

What is unforgiveness?

It is a debt that someone owes us in the form of injustice, evil, sin, an offense committed against us.

What is forgiveness?

  • Forgiveness is not that we forget it, but that when we remember it, it can no longer cause us pain or anger.
  • Your heart no longer responds to the offense
  • There is no purpose if there is no forgiveness
  • The offended person disqualifies himself from God's calling and anointing on his life
  • Forgiveness is letting go, sending away what that person did to you. It is to remove from your heart with the Grace of God forever the offense that they committed against you
  • It is the cancellation of the sin committed against you
  • Put that offense under the blood that forgave you
  • We have no other option but not to forgive
  • Jesus placed the responsibility on us to forgive
  • You take initiative and make the decision to forgive
  • For God to answer our prayers I must forgive my debtors
  • The pain they cause you can be great and deep. The bigger and deeper the more our forgiveness should be.
  • Some are paying consequences for not forgiving the offense. But today is your day to forgive and be free.
  • Our God is a God of forgiveness
  • My debt to God is too great
  • The word Sin originally means crimes

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Declare:

Every yoke of hostility is broken

All spirit of conflict is broken

All misunderstanding is broken

The power of offense is broken

Unforgiveness is broken

I prophesy: Unity, love, loyalty, fidelity, commitment, a mantle of love

We are going to love those who have done us wrong

In families there is lack of forgiveness and offenses

In marriages there are offenses

At the tables where they eat there is offense

Everything that has been contained because of offense is broken today

Receive joy, peace, and love

There is no more legal right in your heart for the offense. You are free today!
